Full–time Non-Unit Administrative Position (12 months)

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Cape Cod Community College is seeking a Network Administrator / Information Security Specialist to implement and support the network infrastructure and champion IT security initiatives throughout the College.  The position will be a key member of the Core Services team and will plan, design and implement new networking hardware and software solutions for the College while evaluating, strengthening, and designing security systems and protocols.

SUPERVISION  RECEIVED: Reports to the Core Services Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design, implement and maintain networking systems and topologies in accordance with the Core Services Director.
  2. The incumbent will provide administration of a network and host-based threat detection and defense system to include intrusion detection systems, intrusion prevention systems, firewall systems and threat analysis systems, and provide analysis and examination of attack patterns or implementation of blocking activities on an ad-hoc basis.
  3. Monitor and champion changes in federal and state regulations and accreditation standards affecting information security and to make recommendations on the need for policy changes by communicating to key members of the IT staff including the Assistant Vice President of Information Technology / CIO.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of background and experience). Information Systems, Networking and/or Computer Science degree preferred but not required.
  2. Three or more years experience with: TCP/IP core networking, security protocols, VLANs, VPN, SAN systems, E-mail, NAS, firewalls, intrusion detection/protection systems, and network management systems.
  3. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with different audiences of varying technological knowledge.
  4. Willingness to learn new technologies in an independent fashion with a highly adaptable skill set under a high workload.
  5. Willingness to identify and adapt to skills including client support, training, resource and project management, administration and systems integration.
  6. Ability to make informed decisions on network design including, but not limited to, network topology, routing, contingency strategies and new building construction.
  7. Experience with Microsoft Windows Client Support, Windows Server 2003, Active Directory, backup methodologies and design, and security protocols.
  8. Experience administering network security technologies including firewalls, routers, switches, VLANs, authentication mechanisms, SSL, VPN, server hardening and encryption protocols.
  9. Experience with Windows Active Directory, Exchange Server, LAN Administration, TCP/IP and Internet Protocols (SMTP, DNS, VPN, SSL), Windows 2000/2003 servers, WSUS, SQL and Wireless LANs.
  10. Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to develop and deliver presentations and documents.
  11. Solid interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with people of all levels of information technology expertise with a wide range of constituencies and organizational relationships.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Cisco Switches/Routers and Wireless technologies.
  2. Microsoft Server Side Technologies (Server 2003/ 2008, Active Directory, Group Policy Administration).
  3. VMWare ESX 4.x (VDI or Citrix thin client experience preferred).
  4. VPN, Bandwidth management (Packetshaper), Centralized Anti-Malware programs.
  5. MS Exchange 2007.
  6. Centralized Imaging experience (Altiris preferred).
  7. Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, ability and willingness to independently increase Linux/Unix skill set.
  8.  Microsoft OS patching/scanning technologies. (WSUS / PatchAuthority).
  9. A strong working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA, FERPA and other security/privacy laws.
  10. Experience with McAfee or other enterprise anti-virus, anti-spy ware, anti-spam appliances.
  11. Experience with the Jenzabar Student Information system (SIS) or comparable SIS system.
  12. Knowledge of web technologies and experience with IIS, HTML and XML.

COMPENSATION:                        Non-Unit Administrative Position. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Includes participation in attractive employee benefits program.
