Dr. Yuki Honjo, Chief Operating Officer of McLane Research Laboratories in Falmouth will speak on the importance of team work and collaboration between industry and academia in furthering advances in Ocean Sciences. Research in the ocean has immense and unique challenges, and this talk will touch on the turning points in technology that changed the way we see the world today. McLane’s experience in technology transfers and the collaboration between public and private interests have allowed the company to be on the bleeding edge of ocean sciences. McLane is a small high tech manufacturing oceanographic company located in Falmouth since 1983 which builds in-situ time series robots for research in some of the most challenging aquatic environments on Earth.
Dr. Yuki Allyson Honjo is owner and Chief Operating Officer of McLane Research Laboratories, Inc. in East Falmouth. Yuki started her career in equity analysis, working at Tokyo-based financial institutions. A proud native of Falmouth (she was born at Falmouth Hospital and attended Falmouth schools), she spent the better half of her life abroad. Yuki happily returned to the Cape in 2009.
Yuki has also written widely for various academic conferences and newspapers and is fluent in Japanese. She holds an honors degree from Harvard University, a doctorate from the University of Oxford, and has also studied at the University of Tokyo.
