Outsourcing and Offshoring Technology Services … to Cape Cod

March 6, 2015 @ 7:30 am - 9:00 am

How A Bourne Technology Company Succeeds by Finding Its Niche and Always Delivering is Topic of Cape Cod Technology Council’s March First Friday Breakfast

Today when one reads about companies outsourcing technology work, the story usually discusses their contracting with design firms in India, the Far East, and elsewhere. But one local company has kept the work at home … by competing successfully from Cape Cod.

John DeCesare, President of Celerity Embedded Design Services in Pocasset, will speak on the challenges and opportunities in competing for outside technology services and of operating a company, particularly a technology business, on Cape Cod. He will also share the story of his own company’s success in providing electronic design services to a variety of customers in defense, medical, toy, and other industries at the March First Friday breakfast of the Cape Cod Technology Council.   The breakfast will be held on Friday, March 6 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Hyannis Golf Club on Route 132, Hyannis.

Celerity, established in 2007, provides outsourced contract engineering and product development services for its broad client base across the U.S. on specific projects, designing products from concept to production with a wide range of technologies. It offers capabilities in different engineering disciplines including electrical, mechanical, printed circuit board CAD and with other providers PCB fabrication and assembly services, as well as compliance, and software.

Now with over 25 years of experience in product design, John began his career at GTECH Corporation in Rhode Island as an Electrical Design Engineer responsible for developing products used in the gaming business.  He later assumed responsibility for managing the GTECH communication group with products such as data radios, modems and satellite systems.  In 1998, he joined Excel Switching Corporation managing the VoIP Hardware Design Team.  After Excel was purchased in 1999 by Lucent Technologies John became Director of Hardware Engineering.  Excel later combined with BrookTrout Technology and SnowShore Media to form Cantata Technologies where John was responsible for the entire hardware development team. He holds multiple patents, graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and has completed coursework at Brown University.
