The Internet of Things (IoT) – First Friday – April 2017

The Internet of Things (IoT) is estimated to consist of 30 billion objects by the year 2020, and is projected to have a global market value of $7 trillion. Dr. Ed Klein, Ph.D., formerly with Intel Corporation’s Internet of Things Group, will present an overview of IoT. He’ll cover what IoT is, it’s history, trends, where it’s applied, what technologies it involves, how it’s impacting individuals and organizations, concerns, and what’s in IoT for us!

Dr. Ed Klein, Ph.D., is the Manager of Data Center Services at Cape Cod Healthcare. He was previously an Engineering Manager and Scrum Master with Intel Corporation’s Internet of Things Group, developing software for embedded hardware and Intel’s Real-time Operating System.

Ed holds 3 patents in the area of computer networking, a Ph.D. and B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, and an M.S. in Computer Information Systems from Boston University. He’s a past member of the adjunct faculty at Boston University, where he lectured in computer networking.
