Art Gaylord
Director of Computer & Information Technology, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
Art Gaylord is the Director of Computer and Information Services at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Prior to taking this position in 1999, he developed and directed computing facilities at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and University of Illinois. He has over 40 years of experience in information technology with expertise in collaboratve and distributed computing, scientific computing, networking and voice over IP. He has led several large research projects funded by state and federal government agencies as well as major corporations including Digital Equipment, HP, IBM, GTE and Hughes. Mr, Gaylord has been a speaker at numerous conferences worldwide and has publications in both computer science and chemistry. He holds a BA and MA from Wesleyan University and an MS for the University of California, Berkeley.
