Shark encounters in New England coastal waters have increased in the past decade, causing great concern for public safety. Is there a way to preserve our precious marine habitat while safeguarding the public?

Cape Cod Ocean Community was formed by a group of concerned Cape Cod residents, visitors, vacationers, investors, owners, entrepreneurs, employees and others who seek to establish safer beach recreation using technology to coexist with sharks. The nonprofit organization strives to preserve and promote the ocean way of life of those living, working and vacationing in our coastal communities, without harming or otherwise negatively impacting marine life and balance.

About Heather Doyle

Heather transitioned to full time from part time Cape Cod living in 2018.  This was a plan towards rounding out 30 years of high tech corporate life, finding work life balance and following outdoor passions with her love Drew.  With goals first to firm up a home base around the ocean, and then looking forward to life’s next stages as the children launch their adult lives.

However, watching the danger from sharks sparked a desire to learn more about the circumstances.   Once Cleve Bigelow and Dr Litton were victimized by sharks, the concern was at full tilt.  Herself, only a moderate ocean recreationist, was experiencing a growing fear for family, friends and community who are in these waters every day.

After Arthur Medici died, Heather and Ashley Penn joined with others to sponsor the Clever Buoy trial.  Though that did not come to fruition, Heather worked to use corporate skills around achieving goals outside of ‘hierarchy’ and pressing for shark safety measures to be implemented.  Pivoting quickly to organize and execute programs to bring information closer to Cape Cod, building key alliances, sponsoring projects to continue moving the needle on change.  That change being to see safer waters attained by the use of technology to detect or deter sharks.
