Electric Vehicle Car Show & Drive Experience

September 14 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Electric Car Charger

National Drive Electric Week will be celebrated on Cape Cod on Saturday, September 14, from 10 AM to 2 PM, in Hyannis at Barnstable Municipal Airport.   Cape Cod auto dealers will come together to showcase their electric and plug-in hybrid models and offer test drives. This first-ever collaboration is sponsored by many entities, including Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative, Eversource, Green Energy Consumers Alliance, Cape Air, the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and the Barnstable Municipal Airport.

“With the advent of longer-range, larger more powerful and fast charging electric vehicles, the electric car advantages are striking”, says Jim Wolf, Sustainability Director of Cape Air. “When we add in the economy and freedom from fossil fuels, we’ve reached the point where everybody should be checking out these cars before buying their next vehicle.  This show will be a great opportunity to not only see them but to drive them!”  Drive options will include Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, VW, BMW, Volvo, Audi and Chevrolet.  The Nissan Leaf is a Platinum sponsor of National Drive Electric Week.

Examples of charging stations, both commercial and home-style, will be on display with experts on hand to discuss installation and operation.   Representatives of Eversource’s Make Ready charging station program, and state approved charging station vendors will explain the process for installing charging infrastructure. “Apps” that illustrate the location of the growing numbers of public charging stations will be circulated.

Solar installers and community solar providers will be there to answer questions, offer site analysis of your home, sign you up for community solar and, if desired, schedule you for follow-up meetings.  Representatives of energy efficiency programs will provide information on how to improve the performance of homes and businesses and sign people up for energy audits.

A very popular facet of the show will be the “Ambassadors,” current electric or hybrid car owners who will bring their personal vehicles to the show and provide first hand experiences as EV car owners.

This event is free and all ages are welcome. Food will be available for purchase, and the show will go on under the tent, rain or shine.  For more information and for a complete list of Sponsors and Partners go to www.capecodevcarshow.com, or call Jim Wolf, Cape Air, at 508-240-4851.
