No Longer Your Grandma’s Public Access TV Station: Toward the Future with the Cape Cod Community Media Center – October 2019 First Friday

October 4 @ 7:30 am - 9:30 am

CCCMC speakers

Wayne’s World, Between Two Ferns, or something more? Public access television has long been known as a quirky platform for members of the community to share their ideas. But community media centers also serve as town criers for local events, organizations, and initiatives; incubators for students and young video producers; stepping stones in emerging fields like podcasting and virtual reality; and places of gathering for film and video lovers. Hear from staff of the Cape Cod Community Media Center in this First Friday presentation.

Kate McMahon, Director of Outreach and Special Projects

I have the best job on Cape Cod! I get to share with businesses, nonprofits and schools the features that are the gem of the Media Center. From managing the high school newspaper to creating revenue for the Cape Cod Times, I have always had a soft spot for media.

Izzi Caplan, Director of Communications and Membership

I interned with CCCMC after my junior year in college studying Film & Media Arts at American University. I got hooked on TV production, and moved to the Cape to work at the Media Center in 2018.

Jamie Horton, Training Coordinator

After earning my Film & Video degree from the Full Sail Center for the Recording Arts in Florida,
I maintained my edit suite tan by producing a series of silly public-access shows about professional wrestling and sci-fi fantasy movies.
