Feb 1: First Friday – OpenCape Update

OpenCape update with OpenCape CEO Dan Vortherms and CapeNet VP Tony DaSilva.

About OpenCape
The Non-profit OpenCape Corporation’s purpose is to fulfill the need for a new communications network on Cape Cod and the Islands to enhance education, research and economic development, and to provide for an emergency communications network. The OpenCape Network is made possible by a $32-million federal BTOP grant and a total of $8 million in matching funds from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Barnstable County and CapeNet. For more information, please visit www.opencape.com and www.recovery.gov.

About CapeNet, LLC
To ensure that the network was built and managed on time and on budget, OpenCape hired an experienced company to manage the installation and create services on the new network. In 2011, after an open, competitive bidding process, OpenCape selected CapeNet to manage building the network and, afterwards, run its day-to-day operations and offer broadband services.
